December News Letter

Merry Christmas, & Happy New Year Begindergarten Parents,
Attached is both Decembers and Janurary's snack calendars. In January we always start our healthy eating unit, so we take turns bringing things from certain food groups when we have the treat bucket.

FOR JANUARY NOT DECEMBER:
Example: calendar says your child is the star this week, and on Tuesday he/she needs to bring Meat group. Perhaps a sandwhich, meat and crackers, etc. Thursday it says to bring dairy. You could bring cheese and crackers, yogart, icecrean cups, cheese sticks. etc. The possiblities are endless. Same goes for the vegtable and fruit groups. You would be surprised at how much children really learn to like these types of snacks after having them at school. :)

Going back to December, you can see that we will be having our December Christmas party on December 16th. This year to make it easy, if your child is a boy please buy a $5 to $7 boy gift to exchange. If your child is a girl, please bring a $5 to $7 girl gift to exchange. NO CANDY GIFTS PLEASE!!!!

Those bringing food for the Morning party are:

Peyton pickles
Reagan sandwhiches
rhylan something fun/backed etc.
Shyanne chips
Zack brings popsicles or ice cream bars

Those bringing food for the Afternoon Party are:
Jayda pickles
Jackson sandwiches
Lyndi something fun/backed etc.
Presley chips
Sabian popsciles or ice cream bars

Once again the Journal has invited us to write letters to Santa. We make it fun by taking the letters up to the Journal and placing them in the Santa Mail Box. Please sit down and write a letter with your child and send it to school on December 7th. We then in turn will be walking the letters over to the Journal on The 9th. The Journal will not accept letters after the 10th of December, so it is nice that we do it as a class.

December tends to be kind of hectic and goes rather quickly. If I should think of anything else, I will let you know..

Merry Christmas
Ms. Kocher

Tupperware fundraiser

Hi parents...

Thank you to all of the parents whom went the extra mile and helped sell tupperware. Sadely our total was no where near last year's but the money we did raise helped pay some needed preschool bills.

We raised $954 dollars. That is including the extra money we got for donations.
The first $500 went toward the 1 million dollar insurance policy that I must pay to insure the room/church.

We have $454 to spend toward new things for our class and catch up on some misc expenses.. Again thanks for helping to sell, and get donations. Means a lot.

The order was sent in on the 12th, so I am hoping she will get it next week, and be able to get the orders in in time for Christmas. I will need some help sorting the items once they arrive, so please let me know if you might be available to help.

Ms. Kocher

Tuesday NOV 16th BOOK WEEK!

My apologies for no school no Tuesday the 9th. Payment for December will be $6.00 less than that of the payment schedule..

Short note. Payments are due the 1st Thursday of the month. I have been pretty easy going about recieving late payments, however I am finding myself chasing parents for payments more and more. Those people whom continue to be late will be billed $5 a day late fees unless special arrangments are made. I hate to be so strict, but I no longer have the conveince of my ex-husband's check book, therefore I rely on the very little left I get from the preschool after expenses.. Sorry

The Very Hungry Caterpillar Unit

"The Very Hungry Caterpillar" was this year's Open House Theme:

Children were guided through the fun story, and then able to help read and perform the story once again using hand puppets.

This story is great for sequencing, counting, colors and much more

Caterpillars have been ordered and kids are anxiously awaiting their arrival. We have gone through the stages over and overs. The children are quite aware that..
1st you have the egg
2nd you have a tiny caterpillar
3rd the caterpillar eats lots and lots of food
4th the caterpillar makes himself a cacoon
5th the caterpillar sleeps for 2 weeks
6th the caterpillar breaks out of the cacoon and is a beautiful butterfly

We will continue on with many fun butterfly projects over the next couple of weeks. Today we made a sequncing sheet, and on Thursday we will be making coffee filter butterflys..

Fly away with your child and his/her imagination.. You will be surprised where you will end up....

Welcome Back

Dear Begindergarten Parents,
I would like to welcome everybody to the Early Learning Begindergarten blog. This will be a quick and easy way for me to keep parents informed of what is going on in preschool without the extra expense of making copies. This blog shall replace the daily take home sheets that the students have brought home in the past.

For starters, welcome everybody! This year I have many many new things planned not only for our preschoolers, but our parents as well. One of my hopes is to get the parents more involved in school. Things like Muffins for Moms & Donuts for dads are a couple of my ideas. I encourage parents to come visit school atleast once during the year. I do however appreciate a call or email letting me know you are comming. It is always nice to plan bigger projects when I know I have an extra set of hands comming. :)

Open house is set for September 16th, and is mandatory for all students and parents. Morning group will be from 5:30-6:45 and afternoon group will be from 7:00-8:15. This year's theme is "The Very Hungry Butterfly," so come exlore the story with us and help the children paint life size butterflies. It will be very exciting.

Please make sure you have all of your children's school supplies with you on open house night, as well as, your Begindergarten registration packet. A reminder that no child may start school unless I have September's payment and all forms filled out.

Once again we will be doing our Tupper Ware Fundraiser. We were very successfull in raising over $1500 for our class. Please help us be successfull once again. ELB gets no aid from grants, or government funding, so your fundraising keeps our program alive. So ON YOUR MARK, GET SET, SELLLLLLLLLLLLLLL..........

This year we have become a part of Scholastic's book club. I will be sending home various book orders that you may look at and purchase cheap books for your child. Each time you order, we get new books for our classroom. If you have any further questions about book orders, please feel free to talk to me.

School Starts September 21st, and will be here before we know it... I look forward to seeing you at the open house!
